I’m no longer an amateur politician – Lungu

President Edgar Lungu says he is no longer an amateur politician he was when he contested last January’s presidential by-election.

He says did not perform well during last year’s presidential election because he was an amateur politician, but that he has now learnt politics.

President Lungu says he will therefore not have difficulties in winning the presidential race because people have tried and tested his commitment to transform the nation.

Speaking when he addressed a rally in Kalomo District last evening, President Lungu says some political leaders are used to losing and will once again lose the forthcoming elections.

And President Lungu has advised youths against provoking fellow youths from other political parties saying that is a recipe of violence.

He says leaders who send them to engage in violent activities are able to talk with their opponents nicely, while they suffer the consequences of their actions alone.

The Head of State has since assured Zambians that he will protect Democracy, but will not protect lawlessness in the country.

Earlier, the president met Chiefs Simwatachela and Sipatunyana of Kalomo District and appealed to them to help in bringing the people together.

He says there is no need to destroy the peace freedom fighters
tirelessly fought for during the independence struggle.

President Lungu says Zambia has been a shining example of peace and unity, thus the need for all generations to work hard in upholding this unity.

And Chief Sipatunyana appealed to the Head of State to ensure the construction of eight health posts and Kalomo District Hospital in the district are accelerated.

He says it is unfortunate that Kalomo, being one of the
oldest districts in Zambia still does not have a district hospital making it difficult to access health services.
