Women movement welcomes revocation of Kanene’s appointment

The women movement in the country has welcomed the withdrawal of musician Clifford Dimba alias general Kanene as an ambassador in the fight against Gender Based Violence (GBV).

The Non Governmental Coordinating Council (NGOCC) says Dimba’s pardon came too early and that they were convinced he had not reformed.

NGOCC executive director Engwase Mwale says they were of the view that Dimba’s case needed the total application of the law, but were not listened to.

And the Zambia National Women’s Lobby (ZMWL) is disappointed by Dimba’s behavior which has led to the allegations against him.

ZMWL board chairperson Beauty Katebe says they were expecting that Dimba would reform and use the opportunity of being an ambassador against GBV as an opportunity to sale himself as a musician.
