National Revolution Party president Cosmo Mumba has appealed to the Electoral Commission of Zambia to call for a meeting of all political parties to discuss among other issues the Public Order Act, Political violence and the Presidential Nomination fees for August 11 elections.
Presenting a petition to the Commission today, Mr. Mumba says the ECZ must consider reducing the presidential nomination fees.
He says there are a lot of issues that need to be discussed to avoid bringing about unnecessary conflicts between politicians and their supports.
And Mr. Mumba says he has decided to start campaigning after realizing that other parties doing the same and the Police and ECZ are doing nothing about it.
And Mr. Mumba has asked the commission to provide Police officers to guard all opposition political parties ahead of the August 11 general election.
And ECZ Director Priscilla Isaacs has assured Mr. Mumba that the commission will look into the matter.
