The opposition Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) has called on the ruling Patriotic Front to set the tone for peaceful and mature campaigns ahead of the August 11 elections.

MMD Spokesperson Raphael Nakachinda says the ruling party has a bigger role to play in ensuring that campaigns are peaceful.

Mr. Nakachinda says politics of intimidation and harassment should be discouraged during the campaigns.

He says using intimidation against those who hold opposing views is a very retrogressive way of doing politics.

Mr. Nakachinda has since called on all political players to see to it that they respect each other’s views to avoid confrontations.
