Take it seriously, famine is imminent, govt urged

Government has been urged to take seriously the imminent famine that is to arise in the Country in view of the poor rainfall being experienced this year.

And the opposition Zambians for Empowerment and Development (ZED) has implored government to start planning for drought eventualities from now on.

ZED spokesperson Wesley Miyanda says this is order that the Country avoids having deaths caused by hunger.

Mr. Miyanda says his party is concerned that government has this year mismanagement the food security of the Country.

He says the ZED is of the view that government should not have allowed the export of maize from the last farming season harvest.
