President Edgar Lungu has reminded the Church in the Country of its onerous task this year to preach peace across the country.

President Lungu says it is also the task of the Church to inculcate values of oneness among Zambians.

He says his fervent prayer is that as the Country approaches the general elections this year all political players will exercise restraint.

President Lungu states that violence has no place in Zambia as for many years in the region and globally, it has been known as a beacon of peace and tranquility.

He notes that Zambians have co-existed regardless of their different affiliations, creed, race, and ethnicity among others the more reason they should ensure that they work hard to maintain this record.

President Lungu said this in a speech delivered at the occasion to mark the closing of the United Church of Zambia (UCZ) golden jubilee celebrations at Nkana stadium in Kitwe today.

And President Lungu has paid tribute to the UCZ for the contribution it has made in among others shaping people’s moral fiber and providing health care and education services in the country.

He says in recognizing the efforts made by UCZ, he also applauds the heroes and heroines who have benefited from it and who have also helped shape Zambia’s political landscape.

President Lungu has referred to first republican president Kenneth Kaunda and the likes of Harry Mwanga Nkumbula, Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe, Dr. Mtumba Bull and Lily Monze as some of them.

He since appealed to the congregants of UCZ to realize that it is also high time that their church’s slogan of “All One in Christ’’ was restored.
