The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has been advised to begin assessing its capacity to handle the referendum alongside this year’s general elections.

Peoples party(PP) president  says it is also time for the ECZ to begin preparations on how it will scrutinize the qualification of all presidential candidates as the amended constitution requires all aspiring presidential candidates to have 100 supporters from all the 10 province of the country.

And Mr. Mulongoti notes that clauses such as the death penalty and gay rights must be debated in a robust manner and also that the ecz should be urged to remain as neutral as possible.

He says failure by ECZ to remain neutral during the adoption process of the remaining clause through referendum will result into chaos.

Mr. Mulongoti has also challenged ECZ to states its position on political parties which have started campaigning.
