CBU’s problems is example of broken education system – HH

Opposition UPND president Hakainde Hichilema says problems at the Copperbelt University are a prime example of how the PF government has broken the Country’s education system.

Mr. Hichilema has observed that there is a general deterioration in all tertiary and higher learning institutions in the country a situation he says requires serious attention and overhaul.

In a statement to Qfm News Mr. Hichilema notes that the Country cannot continue having important areas like the education system going unattended, while those charged with responsibility are busy jumping from one lavish social occasion to the next.

Mr. Hichilema thinks that it is unacceptable for students and lecturers at Copperbelt University have not been paid their salaries and allowances.

He states that his party condemns anarchy and violence at all times and that it thinks dialogue is the best way to resolve the issue at the University.
The UPND leader is of the view that suspending students is just a panic and temporal measure that will not heal the real problems at the University.
He suggests that the problems at the learning institution are not insurmountable as they are within the grasp of Government except that he suspects that the government does not allegedly care.
Mr. Hichilema thinks that students at the said University need to be given audience to air their grievances while at the mean.
He states that if it means meeting the President, this should be done now in a similar way previous republican presidents did.
Mr. Hichilema suggests that in the meantime all suspended students should be reinstated without further delay.
