Siavonga DC acts to favor school pupils

Siavonga District Commissioner Lovemore Kanyama has directed the District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) to ensure government schools allow pupils who have not paid their school fees to attend class as their parents scout for money.

Mr. Kanyama says parents and guardians should be given a grace period of one month in which they should look for money, while their children continue to attend school.

He says he has received a number of complaints from parents and guardians who have asked to be given time to find money for their children’s school fees.

Mr. Kanyama says it is for this reason that he has engaged DEBS to ask all school Head Teachers in the district not chase pupils who have not paid their schools fees in full until mid February.
