It’s blasphemy – UPND

The United Party for National Development (UPND) has described as blasphemous, Information and Broadcasting Services Minister Chishimba Kambwili’s statement that there are regions in the country where even if Jesus Christ stood against their leader, they would reject Christ. Kakoma

UPND Spokesperson Charles Kakoma in a statement says this is also unconstitutional and amounts to hate speech at the highest level.

He adds that Mr. Kambwili’s remarks during ZNBC’s Sunday Interview are also against the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation.

Mr. Kakoma states that Mr. Kambwili has violated CAP 87,Section 70(1) of the laws of Zambia which states that any person who utters any words or publishes any writing expressing or showing hatred, ridicule or contempt for any person or group of persons wholly or mainly because of their race,tribe,place of origin or colour is guilty of a offence and is liable on conviction to imprisonment for a period not exceeding two years.

He has since called on the Police to arrest Mr. Kambwili for breaking the law.
