The opposition UPND has maintained that the PF Government sold the original turbines at Kariba Dam and replaced them with substandard and cheap ones resulting into massive load shedding.

UPND Chairman for Rural Reconstruction and Development Moono Mapani tells QFM News in a walk-in-interview that information reaching the party indicate that the PF Government sold the turbines to get money for by-elections and replaced them with low quality turbines which cannot generate power effectively.

Mr. Mapani says the PF Government should come out in the open and tell the nation why they replaced the original turbines that were generating power effectively and replaced them with the current ones.

He says his party is reliably informed that government sold the original British made turbines they found and replaced them with cheap equipment that have lower capacity.

Meanwhile, the UPND Chairman for Rural Reconstruction and Development has demanded for an apology from the PF leadership for the uncivilized behavior of the PF cadres who stripped naked UPND women in Mpulungu on Wednesday.

Mr. Mapani says the police are failing to perform their duties of bringing to book the culprits because the cadres are allegedly protected by Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila and Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja.
