MMD President Dr. Nevers Mumba
MMD President Dr. Nevers Mumba has assured the nation that if elected into office, he will without hesitation abolish the Public Order Act within one year of being in office.
Dr. Mumba says the application of the Public Order Act has brought tension in the political sphere and thus the need to repeal it to allow people enjoy their rights freely.
Dr. Mumba states the ruling PF has abused the Act by ensuring that opposition political parties obtain police permit to hold meetings while they do not do that themselves.
He says it is the desire of his political party to see to it that this piece of legislation which has been a thorny in the fresh of the opposition is completely repealed.
The MMD Leader says it is unfortunate that the PF Government is reluctant to abolish or amend it so that there is sanity in the political sphere and allow people to enjoy their freedoms.
Dr. Mumba has since assured the nation that nothing will stop him from abolishing this law which he says prevents people from enjoying their freedoms.
