Govt confident police will maintain law, order during polls

Government is confident that the Zambia Police Service will be able to maintain law and order in the country during this year’s general elections.

Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila says people should not pay attention to certain stakeholders claiming that the elections may be marred with violence saying the police service is there to keep law and order.

Mr. Mwila says the police will not hesitate to bring to book any ailing individuals perpetrating violence in the country.

He says Zambia is know to be a peaceful nation and that the police will do its level best in maintaining law and order in the country.

He adds that the government has provided the necessary support to the service to ensure that the polls will be peaceful by creating a conducive environment for all political players to operate freely.

And the Home Affairs Minister says government is more than ready to address the concerns raised by stakeholders concerning the Public Order Act.
