Law Association of Zambia President George Chisanga says it is not President Edgar Lungu’s duty to entertain people opposed to the constitution bill before signing it into law.

He has since wondered why some political parties and other stakeholders petitioned President Lungu not to assent to the constitution bill.

Mr. Chisanga says law mandates the President to assent to such a bill immediately after Parliament has passed it.

Heritage Party Leader Brigadier General Godfrey Miyanda had petitioned the Head of State seeking clarity on some aspects of the bill.

The constitution bill will be signed into law at a public ceremony to be held at National Heroes Stadium this afternoon.
