Govt urged to take lead in doing away with casualization

Green party president Peter Sinkamba has challenged government to take the lead in ending Casualization of labour following the amendment of the employment act which has outlawed such forms of labour.

Mr. Sinkamba says government is one of the biggest culprits when it comes to Casualization citing the many people who have worked for the government for so many years, but have still not been employed on permanent basis.Peter

He says it is therefore important that government takes the lead by employing on permanent basis all the workers that have been working on contract basis.

Mr. Sinkamba notes that this will also prompt other employers to follow suit.

He since urged government to ensure that the ban on casualization of labour is enforced, noting that often times, government has come come up with good laws but that implementation has usually been a problem.

Mr. Sinkamba states the implementation of the ban will work to the advantage of the employees and their families and may translate into improved livelihoods.
