NCC registers 5000 contractors at close of 2015

The National Council for Construction (NCC) has at the close of 2015 registered a total of 5000 contractors operating in Zambia.

NCC Executive Director Charles Mushota says this is an increase of 1000 more contractors to the 4000 that were registered in the year 2014.

And Mr. Mushota has disclosed that in the year 2015 his Council undertook a skills training project for about 300 local contractors.

He says this is besides conducting other skills training for women and youths which attracted about 80 women.

Mr. Mushota says the council is thus hopeful that construction firms will become more productive and better equipped to meet the demands for this year.

He notes that in view of the skills gap in the construction sector, the NCC has also has come up with 20 projects aimed at improving the workmanship of the local constructors across the country.
