Police record 4 fatal traffic accidents

The Zambia Police has recorded four fatal road accidents between 11:00hrs of yesterday the 31st of December 2015 and 06:00hrs of  today Friday the 1st of January 2016.

Police spokesperson Charity Munganga Chanda has disclosed to Qfm News that the first happened 37km away from Serenje along the Great North Road in which a catholic nun sister Mary Francis Wapakwenda of Mpika died on the spot.

Ms. Chanda says another nun sister Cecilia Mulenga of Mbala only sustained injuries.

She says the driver of the vehicle and his wife also sustained injuries.

Ms. Chanda states that this is an accident happened after the driver of the Toyota Spacio Reg # APB 92 lost control after right tyre burst and went to overturn off the road.

She notes that the second accident happened along the Ndola Mufulira Road on Thursday yesterday around 19: 20 hours in which a pedestrian derrick Chindo was hit by a rider who did not stop after the accident.

Ms. Chanda further discloses that third accident also happened Thursday yesterday around 16:50 hrs at Ndonga area in Kaoma in which a 79 year old pedestrian Kakanda Kalaluka was hit by a Toyota corolla ALL 3140.

She states that the driver of this vehicle is in detention.

Ms. Chanda says the last accident happened around 05:30 this morning at the junction of Great East and District Roads.

She says this happened when a driver of a Toyota Crown BAB 405 hit into a Toyota Premio ABM 8778.

Ms. Chanda says the Drver of Premia Charles Chilufya Mudenda died on the spot while the occupants of the Crown sustained injuries.
