Youth and Sport Minister Vincent Mwale
Government says it is on course to the 500,000 jobs it promised to the youths in the country as outlined in the National Youth Policy and Action Plan on youth empowerment and employment.
Youth and Sport Minister Vincent Mwale says much as the challenges the country is facing were not anticipated when setting the target of the 500,000 jobs, a lot of effort is being made in ensuring that the action plan is implemented.
Mr. Mwale explains that so far, progress has been made in the different sectors of the economy aimed at facilitating the creation of job opportunities in the various sectors.
He says the ministry of youth is coordinating with various ministries in implementing the action plan.
He adds that youth focal point persons have since been appointed in all ministries to ensure that as ministries plan, they mainstream the action plan in everything that they do.
Mr. Mwale has since appealed to youths in the country not pay attention to critics discouraging them that the action plan will not be implemented.
He says government is committed to implementing the plan knowing too well the benefits that will come with its implementation.
