ZP ponders protection of journalists during 2016 election year

The Media in country has been encouraged to look out for measures that the Zambia Police will put in place to assure their safety against political violence during the election year of 2016.

Police Spokesperson Charity Munganga Chanda has however held back from pre-empting what measures Police will put in place to protect journalists.

Ms. Chanda has told Qfm News by telephone that a comprehensive statement on the measures will only be made public next Monday, 4th January, 2016.

The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) had earlier noted the need to ensure the protection of journalists from political violence as they discharge their duties prior, during and after the 2016 general election.
