ZYAFAC opposes holding of another National Constitutional Indaba

The Zambia Youths Association in the Fight Against Corruption (ZYAFAC) has noted with grave concern Heritage Party (HP), President General Godfrey Miyanda’s suggestions to President Edgar Lungu to hold another National Indaba on the Constitutional making process as an attempt to waste more public funds and time.

ZYAFAC Executive Director Rickson Kanema says in a statement released to Qfm news that Zambians aware that General Miyanda served as Republican Vice President under  the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) from 1993 to 1997 and had all the needed time and influence to enable him give Zambians a people driven Constitution which he never did.

He adds that It is also public knowledge that General Miyanda’s MMD Regime produced a 1996 Constitution that most Zambians including himself have condemned as being a weak Constitution which prompted subsequent governments to continue wasting funds on the same process.

Mr. Kanema says his Organization is wondering why General Miyanda is so afraid to raise 100 supporters per each Province from the needed 10 provinces of Zambia to support his Presidential Nomination Candidate.

He states that as Youths they believe that such Articles are needed in the Constitution of Zambia in order to avoid allowing jockers without reasonable numbers of supporters to contest general elections there by making tax payers pay for extra ink on ballot papers for nothing.

He has therefore called upon President Lungu who has shown good commitment on the Constitution making process to dismiss General Miyanda’s time wasting tactics with the contempt it deserves and assent to the constitutional Bill.
