The Prisons Care and Counselling Association (PRISCA) has praised President Edgar Lungu for pardoning 502 prisoners during this year’s Christmas.
PRISCA Executive Director Godfrey Malembeka tells QFM News via telephone that President Lungu has continued from where late President Michael Sata left in decongesting the prisons in the country.
Mr. Malembeka explains that prisons in the country are full to capacity pausing a health danger to inmates and that it is only through such gestures that they can be decongested.
Mr. Malembeka states that the PF Government has tried in the last four years to decongest prisons in the country saying they deserve to be praised.
He says the releasing of the 502 prisoners is a best Christmas gift to the pardoned inmates and their families.
The PRISCA Executive Director has since assured the nation that his organisation will continue advocating for solutions to decongest prisons.
