No Load shedding during Christmas, New Year

Government has assured Zambians that they will be no load shading today Christmas day, on New Years Eve and on New Year’s Day.

Energy and Water Development Minister Dora Siliya says her ministry will strive in 2016 to reduce the electricity power deficit citing that she is pleased that the first unit of Itezhi Tezhi was successful commissioned today.

Ms. Siliya notes that investment in hydro and solar power generation remains a priority as the country continues to pray for good rains.

She adds that they will also strive to have consistent supply of fuel to avoid disruption to economic activities.

Ms. Siliya further states that the Ministry will review its Master Plan to accelerate water harvesting and better manage water bodies.
