The Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue (ZCID) has advised political parties to engage in responsible politics.

ZCID Executive Director Horrance Chilando says political parties should control their anxiety so that they do not find themselves in a situation where they do things outside the law.

Mr. Chilando says the country cannot continue recording cases of political violence, stating that political parties are expected to conduct themselves in a mature manner.

He adds that both the opposition and the ruling party should take responsibility whenever their members do something wrong and not blame it on others.

Mr. Chilando says the ruling party also has a duty to ensure there is harmony in the country that the law is enforced fairly.

He says it would not be right for the people of Zambia to step into 2016 on the back of political violence.

Mr. Chilando has implored political parties to endeavor to unite and work together for the benefit of the people of Zambia.

Mr. Chilando has further urged political leaders to discipline their members and cadres engaging in acts of violence.
