Govt advised to empower more women

Zambia National Women’s Lobby Chairperson Beauty Katebe

Government has been urged to come up with a sustainable way of empowering women in order to improve their living standards.

Zambia National Women’s Lobby Chairperson Beauty Katebe says in as much as notable efforts are being made by government to boost women empowerment, these efforts have not yielded the desired results.

Ms. Katebe points out that giving women money is not a sustainable way of empowering them to be able to fend for their families.

She has since advised government to formulate policies tailored towards women empowerment women.

Ms. Katebe notes that it is government’s mandate to help champion the cause of women through interventions that will enable them venture into high income-earning activities.

Ms. Katebe states that women would be able to support their households if they are supported in business enterprise.
