Passing of dual citizenship clause cheers Zambians in Diaspora

ZAMBIANS living in the Diaspora have expressed happiness over the passing of the dual citizenship clause in the Constitution bill.

Thomas Mushima, a Zambian based in Australia says dual citizenship will make it easy for Zambians in the Diaspora to invest back home.

He says it has been difficult for Zambians living abroad to invest back home under the current constitution which does not allow dual citizenship.

Mr. Mushima states that Zambians living in the Diaspora will now also be able to fully and effectively participate in the economic activities of the country.

And Natasha Bwale based in South Africa dual citizenship will make Zambians in the Diaspora feel part of the country despite being away.

She says the dual citizenship will not only benefit the Zambians living in the Diaspora, but will be of great benefit to the whole country stressing that the country is likely to earn more foreign exchange which will help address the challenge of the depreciating kwacha in the near future.

Ms. Bwale states that she is therefore hopeful that the president will sign the constitution bill into law as soon as possible.
