MMD Students Coalition gives NEC 14 days to call for convention

MMD logoThe MMD Student Coalition has given the party’s National Executive Committee a 14 days ultimatum to call for a meeting to draft a road map for the party Convention.

MMD Student Coalition Chairperson James Chilufya says the NEC should quickly convene an emergency meeting so as to restructure and re-energize the party with new ideas and innovative ideas and pave way for elections from branch to NEC level.

Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. Chilufya says failure by the NEC to call for a meeting will leave them with no option but seek legal redress.

He says now that the draft constitution has been passed, it is cardinal for the MMD to have a vice president the position which is currently vacant, considering that there is now the issue of a running mate.

And Student Coalition Secretary General Chuulu Sichinga says MMD still remains a darling to many Zambians more especially the youths and must retain power next year without fail.

But MMD Spokesperson Raphael Nakachinda has advised the Students to engage the Party leadership whenever they are grieved than rush to the media.
