LWSC reduces production by 25%

The Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company says it has reduced its water production by 25% due to load shedding.

Company Managing Director George Ndongwe says water production for Lusaka City reduced from an average of 258,000 cubic meters per day in 2015 to about 200, 000 cubic meters per day in 2015.

Mr. Ndongwe says the company’s distribution centers have been equally affected, making the distribution of water challenging.

He says in order for the company to respond to this challenge, they have started rationing water to ensure there is equitable distribution of water to all customers.

Mr. Ndongwe says most areas in Lusaka will continue to receive reduced supply hours as compared to what they used to receive early this year.
