The Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) has hailed President Lungu’s commitment and stance on the need to review the Public Order Act (POA).
LAZ President George Chisanga says President Lungu has been showing commitment to review this piece of legislation from the time he was the Home Affairs Minister and Justice Minister.
Mr. Chisanga has told QFM News that President Lungu has been calling on stakeholders for their contributions in amending the Public Order Act saying he should be commended by all well meaning Zambians.
Mr. Chisanga states that it is up to stakeholders to be serious saying the Head of State has already indicated that he is willing to amend this act.
He says LAZ has on several occasions engaged the Head of State on the need to review this piece of legislation and he has showed his wiliness to work with stakeholders in amending it.
The LAZ President has since advised various stakeholders to come together and recommend to the government how they want the POA to be applied by the police as the nation prepares for the 2016 polls.
