The United States Government through the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) in collaboration with the National AIDS Council has today honored seven “Champions” working with youth to end HIV in Zambia.

US Ambassador to Zambia Eric Schultz said this year’s Champions stand out because they have recognized needs in their communities, garnered community support, developed impactful solutions and acted on them.

He adds that this year’s Champions are working to make Zambia’s future bright.

And PEPFAR acting Country Coordinator Tamu Daniel says they are working to ensure that Zambian youth have the tools they need to be able to raise the first AIDS-free generation in Zambia since the start of this epidemic.

Dr. Daniel notes that though this is possible, there is still a lot of work to do.

Each Champion will be featured in a PEPFAR Zambia 2016 Calendar in addition to receiving a cash prize of $1,000 to donate to a local organization or community group of their choice.
