Former Finance Minister Katele Kalumba
Former Finance Minister Katele Kalumba is concerned that government is not improving instruments necessary to access finance for the Agriculture sector.
Dr. Katele says this is despite funds being available which some funding agencies are sitting on.
He suspects that people are failing to access these monies to invest in Agriculture because of the bureaucracy at the Ministry of Agriculture which he notes is not in tandem with the policy leadership.
Dr. Katele however, thinks these are areas that can be addressed aggressively through continuous consultative meetings at the highest level possible.
He is of the view that Zambia is not yet lost to seek a bailout when it can diversify its economy from copper by investing more in Agriculture.
Dr. Katele says the country thus needs to do what is right.
