ECZ registers 1.4 million new voters

The Electoral Commission of Zambia has as at 3rd December, 2015 registered one million, four hundred and twenty four thousand, nine hundred and eighteen (1,424,918) new voters.

ECZ Public Relations Officer Raphael Phiri in a statement made available to QFM News says the commission has during the same period updated particulars of 1,350,012 voters.

Lusaka and Southern provinces have recorded the highest number of new voters so far at 264,142 and 242,341 respectively.

Copperbelt is third with 157,503 new voters followed by Eastern at 149,246, Central at 147, 680, Northern at 123,697 and Western provinces with 108,229 voters.

Muchinga province has 82,493 new voters; Luapula has 86,709 with North Western province having 62,878 new voters.

And Mr. Phiri says Commission is urging eligible citizens in possession of the green National Registration Cards to ensure that hey register as voters before the end of the mobile Voter Registration on 13th December, 2015.
