Mutesa says it is retrogressive to delay the AIB

Government’s continued holding back the passing of the Access to Information Bill (AIB) into law has been described as a retrogressive stance.

The opposition Zambians for Empowerment and Development (ZED) says it does not find any justification in the reasons government has been giving to delay the passing of the Bill.

ZED president Frederick Mutesa says his party thinks that the irresponsible journalism government has observed some media houses have been practicing is not basis enough not to enact the Bill into law.

Dr. Mutesa has disclosed to Qfm News that his party the ZED holds the view that what is important is to ensure that the self media regulatory mechanisms are strengthened.

He says this is while bringing on bold the Access to information legislation.
