Zambia to have a PF driven constitution?

The Zambian Voice has charged that the country will have a Patriotic Front driven constitution instead of a people driven constitution.

Executive Director Chilufya Tayali says the current constitution making process has been taken away from the Zambian people by the mere fact that the draft constitution is now before Parliament.

Mr. Tayali says the ruling PF now has the leverage to change what they do not want in the draft constitution because it has the numbers in Parliament.

He says his organization does not think that the ruling party will allow the retention of clauses it has already indicated it does not agree with.

Mr. Tayali states that the Zambian Voice therefore finds it useless to even debate whether or not the progressive clauses the PF does like will see the light of day.

He says this means that the Zambian people’s aspirations on the constitution are now in the hands of the ruling Patriotic Front.
