Treatment Advocacy and Literacy Campaign (TALC) has encouraged Zambians to use the commemoration of the World AIDS day which falls today 1st December to know their HIV status.

TALC Country Director Felix Mwanza says as the country commemorates World AIDS day, it is also time to reflect on improving resource allocation to the ministry of health to enable it provide proper and quick response through the National AIDS Council and the civil society.

Mr. Mwanza says there is also need to ensure there is consistent supply of ARVs and avoid situations where ARVs run out in health institutions.

He adds that there is also need to improve on monitoring people on ARVs using viral load monitoring tests.

Mr. Mwanza has however commended government working with cooperating partners for putting more than seven hundred people on treatment.

He notes that the more people on treatment, the less circulation of the virus.

Zambia will today join the rest of the World in commemorating World AIDS Day under the local theme “Zambia’s future, getting to zero new HIV infections.
