Musokotwane bemoans widespread hunger in Liuwa

Liuwa Member of Parliament Situmbeko Musokotwane has bemoaned the widespread hunger in his constituency.

Dr. Musokotwane says this is mainly attributed to the fact that Liuwa like most parts of the Western Province has sand soil and therefore any delay in rainfall or droughts in the area results in poor yields.

He says given the poor rainfall pattern experienced in the last rainy season the implication on the farm yields especially that of maize has been total disaster.

Dr. Musokotwane notes that last year’s poor rainfall was so bad that it also negatively affected yields of rice one of the crops being used to end poverty in the area.
