Government through the Ministry of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs has been called upon to engage and involve chiefs in next month’s national day of prayer and fasting program.

Chief Mukobela of the Ila speaking people in Namwala District says the declaration of 18th October as a day of fasting, repentance and prayer by President Lungu is welcome.

He has told QFM News in a telephone interview that he supports the move by the Head of State to reconcile people and seek the face of God, but that the ministry in charge of chiefs’ affairs must contact the traditional leadership through House of Chiefs to be part of this event.

Chief Mukobela says chiefs may want to participate in this program with their subjects but that they are not aware of the detailed program.

He says traditional leaders are in direct contact with people in communities thus the need to engage them so that they may encourage their subjects to participate in this important national event.
