ZFE gives Lungu’s parley speech thumbs up

President Lungu in Parliament

The Zambia Federation of Employers (ZFE) says if measures outlined by President Edgar Lungu in his speech during the official opening of the fifth session of the 11th National Assembly can be followed with a well thought-out implementation and resource allocation plan, the country’s economy can be revitalized.

Speaking during a media briefing today on the president’s speech, ZFE President, Tyson Chisambo has commended President Lungu for the directive to put into practice the provision of the public private partnership Act number 14 of 2009 noting that once implemented, it will facilitate a combination of innovations from both public and private sectors.

Mr. Chisambo says ZFE believes that the establishment of a national productivity centre as announced by the president will enhance productivity and its measurements at enterprise level in all the economic sectors.

He adds that the centre will benefit the nation as higher individual and enterprise productivity may lead to increased competitiveness and job creation in the country.

He further states that the announcement to put in place measures that will allow for long term financing at affordable rates to be supported by venture capital funds and promotion of business incubation will spur economic activities and lead to creation of more jobs in the nation.

Mr. Chisambo also notes that the splitting of some ministries by the president is commendable stressing that the merging of some ministries previously only resulted in some sectors with great potential to grow the economy being neglected.
