The ruling Patriotic Front has described its victory in the Lubansenshi Parliamentary by-election as a sweet one.

PF Lubansenshi Deputy Campaign manager Frank Bwalya says his party is however, disappointed that the votes it got in the by-election did not match the number of votes the party got in the January 20th presidential election.

Father Bwalya has told QFM News by telephone from Luwingu that his party would have amassed more votes had one of its members Charles Chimumbwa not contested the by-election as an independent candidate.

He says the ruling PF is however, happy that it is consolidating and taking back its members ahead of the 2016 general election.

Father Bwalya has since expressed confidence that the ruling party will continue to grow under the leadership of party and republican President Edgar Lungu.

And UPND Spokesperson, Charles Kakoma says his party’s landslide victory in the Solwezi West by-election is an affirmation of how strong it remains in Northwestern Province.

Mr. Kakoma says this is especially that his party has won the Parliamentary seat which previously belonged to the MMD.

He adds that the UPND’s victory in Solwezi West also reflects the mood of the people in North Western Province who he says are upset with the PF government because of its unfulfilled promises
