Visiting Fertilizer Association of South Africa (Fertasa) Chief Executive Officer, Adam Mosert has observed that the fertilizer industry in Zambia and Africa as whole will only grow if it is left in the hands of the private sector.
Mr. Mosert has advised that the fertilize industry must not be seen as a political play-ball but as a means to growing more food.
He says if this is attained, it will not only lead to seeing more farmers using fertilizer to improve their yields, but will also bring about increased food production.
Mr. Mosert says there is therefore need to deal with bottlenecks that are hindering the growth of the fertilizer industry in Africa.
Mr Mosert is in the country to attend the COMESA led East and Southern Africa Fertilizer Trade Platform (ESAF) annual meeting which opened yesterday and will end tomorrow 26th September.
