Police arrest,detain Kaizer Zulu

Kaizer ZuluPolice in Lusaka have arrested and charged Special Assistant to the President for Political Affairs Kaizer Zulu with threatening violence in relations to the shooting incident at Chrismar Hotel last Saturday.

Lusaka province Police Commissioner Charity Katanga has confirmed to QFM News in a telephone interview that Mr Zulu has since been detained at Woodlands Police Station.

She says the offense is contrary to section 90 (B) of the Penal Code CAP 87 of the laws of Zambia.

Ms Katanga states that Mr. Zulu was charged and arrested after appearing for questioning at Woodlands Police Station in Lusaka today.

Asked whether Mr. Zulu is likely to be released on bond considering that the offence he has been charged with is a bondable one, Ms. Katanga could not give a definite answer.

Ms Katanga says the President’s political aide will appear in Court soon.

The arrest of Mr Zulu follows an incident which happened at Chrismar Hotel in the early hours of Saturday where he discharged his firearm after an argument with former Vice President Enoch Kavindele’s sons Enock Junior and Kaunda.

President Edgar Lungu is said to have been displeased by Mr Zulu’s conduct leading to his decision to drop him from his delegation that traveled to New York on Wednesday evening for the UN General Assembly.
