COMESA encourages Italy to invest in region’s railway

The Common for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) has encouraged Italy to invest in railway development in the region.

COMESA Secretary General Sindiso Ngwenya has also called on Italy to support COMESA in value addition, noting that Italian designs are world class particularly footwear and hand bags.

Mr. Ngwenya says this will improve leather products production and business linkages to boost trade between Italy and the COMESA region.

The COMESA Secretary General was speaking when he received credentials from the new Italian Ambassador to Zambia as as Italy’s Permanent Representative to COMESA in Lusaka today.

And Italian Ambassador to Zambia Filipo Smacca Dell Murgo says European experience demonstrates that free movement of goods,services as well as people is a powerful tool to integrate economies,expand investments,spread innovation and strengthen growth in order to improve welfare and social justice.
