75,000 NRCs issued under phase II so far

Seventy five thousand,two hundred and seventy (75,275)five people have so far been issued with National Registration Cards (NRCs) in phase two of the ongoing mobile issuance exercise.

The exercise is covering Lusaka, Eastern, Southern and Western provinces.

Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila has told Parliament today during the questions for oral answer session that in the ten days of the exercise,43,433 people have been issued with NRCs in Lusaka province,9,576 in Southern province,4,680 in Western province and 16,345 in Eastern province.

Mr Mwila says the exercise will run for 90 days.

He states that the exercise is progressing well, and that at rate it is moving the target of 1,075,000 will be met by the end of the exercise.
The third and last phase of the exercise will cover Copperbelt,Luapula and North Western provinces.

Earlier,Home Affairs Deputy Minister Gerry Chanda says government is aware of the implications of mishandling the mobile issuance of National Registration Cards.
