The Zambia National Union of Teachers (ZNUT) has welcomed the splitting of the Ministry of Education into two ministries saying the move will result in improved efficiency in service delivery.
ZNUT Public Relations Manager, Joe Kasaka says the formation of Ministry of General Education and the Ministry of Higher Education will help the respective ministries improve service provision in the education sector.
Mr. Kasaka notes that the previous merging of the Ministries of Education and science, technology and vocational training has not helped in service delivery as the ministry had several responsibilities.
He however says government should have waited before splitting the ministry into two until it liquidated the debt it owes teachers in the country.
