ZCID urges support for passing of Political Parties Act

The Zambia Center for Inter Party Dialogue (ZCID) has called on all political parties to support the introduction of the Political Parties Act saying it will help in the promotion of political freedom.

And the organization has advised political parties to support President Lungu’s pronouncements of the promotion of national dialogue and be part of the prayer and fasting for reconciliation and forgiveness.

ZCID Executive Director Horrance Chilando has told QFM News that the directive by the President to the Minister of Justice after consultation with political parties through ZCID to prepare and present a Bill to parliament to regulate and protect the right of political parties to freely regulate should be supported by all political players.

Mr. Chilando states that the organization has been advocating for the introduction of this piece of legislation and that he is happy that government has endorsed the idea.

He notes that the Act will help in the promotion and growth of political parties in the country as political players will engage in sensible politics.

He says the Act will also enable all political parties to observe political ethics as they will be required to follow the provisions of the law in their duties.

Mr. Chilando has since encouraged political players to support such initiatives saying this will promote inter party democracy.
