Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila has warned political party cadres that the Police service will not tolerate any form of violence during next year’s general elections.

Mr. Mwila has also urged political party leaders to ensure that political cadres do not engage themselves in any form of violence saying they will meet the long arm of the law.

Mr. Mwila says government through the police service will always be there to maintain law and order in the country and that anyone found wanting will be dealt with accordingly.

He explains that cadres ought to know that when they are arrested they will be prosecuted as an individual and not as a party and thus the need for them to ensure that they stay out of trouble.

He says any cadre who will be found engaging in violence in the country will be swiftly whether they belong to the ruling party or the opposition.

The Home Affairs Minister has however reminded political parties that they have a duty to stop their cadres from promoting violence as Government works tirelessly to uphold the law.
