The Professional Teachers Union of Zambia (PROTUZ) has observed that social networking if not properly handled can contribute to the poor performance of pupils in schools.

And the teacher union has praised government for introducing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in schools saying it is helping pupils to move with technology as it advances.

PROTUZ Deputy Secretary General Charity Kampamba says technology is advancing everyday and thus the need for pupils to move with technology which she believes will help them when they find jobs.

Ms Kampamba says government on the other hand should ensure that pupils more especially in rural areas have access to computers for them to be equipped with practical skills.

She has since commended teachers teaching ICT in schools to keep up with the good work they are doing saying the nation is depending on them to inculcate good knowledge and skills in pupils.
