The Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) says it supports the splitting of various Ministries by President Lungu provided that the move is meant for efficient service delivery in government.
ZCTU Secretary General Cosmas Mukuka says his union is however, against the splitting of Ministries if the purpose of doing so is purely for monetary gains.
He has told Qfm News that his union on the other hand thinks the speech by the President is inspiring because it brings out issues of broadening Zambia’s tax base.

Meanwhile U.S Ambassador to Zambia Erick Shultz is pleased that President Edgar Lungu wants to make himself the first Zambian Head of State to forfeit his presidential retirement benefits.
Mr. Shultz also thinks that Zambia can become a developed country much earlier than the 2064 deadline outlined by the President in his speech.
He says this is given the enormous economic potential that Zambia has.
