Oasis Forum comes to the defence of Fr Chiti

The Oasis Forum has come out in full support of Grand Coalition Chairperson Fr. Leonard Chit who has come under sustained attacks over the coalition’s position on the enactment of the new constitution.

Oasis Forum Chairperson Fr. Cleophas Lungu in a statement says political attacks on Fr. Chiti in his capacity as Grand Coalition Chairperson are deeply saddening.

Fr. Lungu says the attacks on Fr Chiti imply that he is speaking on his own account and does not have the support of those constituents that he leads.

He says as members of the Grand Coalition, the Oasis Forum and its constituent members support the positions that have been taken by Fr. Chiti on behalf of the Grand Coalition as the positions that have been arrived at through dialogue and consensus within the Grand Coalition on behalf of all its constituent members but more importantly on behalf of the voiceless Zambian citizens who are calling for constitutional reform that meets their needs and aspirations.

Fr. Lungu says the Oasis Forum therefore strongly condemns the continued personal attacks on Fr. Chiti and calls on all well meaning Zambians to continue supporting him and the just cause
