The Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) has expressed worry at the high number of child defilement cases in the country.

CCZ General Secretary Susanne Matale says Zambians should be worried that despite many interventions to eradicate the vice, cases of child defilement are still on the increase.

Reverend Matale says it is for this reason that the church has scaled up programs to try and eliminate such negative vices.

She has since expressed is confidence that the various programs that have been put in place will no doubt make a positive impact.

Reverend Matale has attributed the increasing numbers of child defilement cases to lack of fear for God by some people.

She states that people should desist from doing anything that is wrong and displeases God.
