The Zambia Police has been urged to ensure that the Public Order Act does not hinder any Zambian the opportunity to enjoy basic freedoms of association, expression and assembly.

Zambian Redemption Front (ZRF) leader Kelly Walubita Junior says it is unfair for the Zambia Police to apply the Public Order Act selectively.

Mr. Walubita told QFM news that Public Order Act being an important piece of legislation responsible for regulating freedom of association, expression and assembly must be applied fairly.

He says this is regardless of whether these freedoms are to be enjoyed by members of the ruling party or opposition political parties.

Mr. Walubita says the police should be guided by principles of professionalism and must be independent and impartial in the discharging their duties.
